If you suffer from hypothyroidism what is the best hypothyroidism diet plan that you can follow?
With so many diets out there it can be greatly confusing, to put it mildly.
Many people are unaware that your diet can have a huge impact on your hormonal imbalances, which include thyroid hormones.
In fact, around 90% of people suffering from an underactive thyroid or also known as hypothyroidism also suffer from what is called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
Unfortunately, an underactive thyroid that is caused by Hashimoto’s disease, which is an autoimmune condition, is a serious health issue that is often not even treated.
Doctors will generally treat the low thyroid hormone levels that a patient has with medications, but fail to acknowledge and address the issue of the potential autoimmune disease – Hashimoto’s thyroiditis itself.
This oversight can in the long term lead to permanent damage to the thyroid when Hashimoto’s disease is present.
This is where a hypothyroidism diet or Hashimotos diet plan can help protect your thyroid health.
Hypothyroidism is a chronic illness that we help many of our female clients with through natural thyroid healing.
In fact, around 5% of the American population aged 12 and older have hypothyroidism with perhaps this same amount again being undiagnosed.
My own hypothyroidism story began many years ago when I had a hypothyroidism test, and I spent well over a decade studying this condition and seeking the answers to these very questions.
I wanted to talk in this video about the best dietary strategy to assist you in balancing your hypothyroidism and Hashimotos disease naturally which is a high-carb diet.
Not only have I personally witnessed big changes in my own thyroid health over the years by adopting a hypothyroidism diet, but many of the clients we’ve helped over the years were also able to reverse their low thyroid condition or greatly improve.
In this video, I talk about the kinds of foods to avoid in your meal plan and foods to include so you can start healing your thyroid with the best diet you can eat.
Many people think that going Paleo or Keto will get them the health results they desire but they need to think again.
Research has shown us that going low carb can affect the thyroid gland by:
- A drop in metabolic rate and energy production (1)
- Causing a fall in the active T3 thyroid hormone (2)
- And by raising the thyroid blocking Reverse T3 hormone levels (2)
All of these suppress your thyroid function and so negatively affect your health.
Further to this, studies have shown that plant foods diets are associated with a reduced risk of thyroid issues, whereas diets that contained animal products or omnivore diets were associated with an increased risk of hypothyroidism. (3)
So watch this video to understand exactly what hypothyroidism diet is best for an underactive thyroid.
